I would like to draw the attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as well a piece of admonition to the present crisis that is happening in the party in Bauchi state.
No political party would prosper and succeed with internal crisis within the party, more especially if it’s not the ruling party but at the state level such as in Bauchi state.
The Bauchi state chapter of the APC is presently battling with internal crisis amongst diverse aspirants of the same party. Remedial actions should urgently be taken to put an end to this roaring and growing tension. Definitely, taking over power come 2023 from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the state level will almost be impossible. This is because internal crisis leads to a series of clashes of interest subsequently, paving the way for dissention and disunity within the party.
Sadly enough, the major cause of such crisis is the fact that the fans, followers and supporters of one contestant are being brainwashed and manipulated to use abusive words against other aspirants of the same position and within the same political party. This doesn’t necessarily mean that all youths are actively engaged in such thoughtless acts. These youths engage in the aforementioned and undesirable acts are the ones that beyond doubt, lack parental and religious orientation.
Regarding the aspirants in the same party, they should now know that it’s a duty upon them to stop inciting the youths into any sort of callous acts that will tarnish the image of their rivals.
A political opponent is never an enemy and would never be one. This has been justified by the present American President Joe Biden who once said during his campaign tour that, “Though we are opponents but we are not enemies.” Imagine these words are coming from the president of the country that first introduced what is now known as democracy. So we are to emulate them as they are the founders and fathers of democracy, if we truly want to practice pure democracy.
In a nutshell, I would like to caution the Bauchi APC to timely assess the situation before things get out of hand because the 2023 general elections are fast approaching. Politics is very simple if its etiquettes are properly understood and observed because in it all those fundamental human rights are fully preserved.
