The administration of Abaji Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) yesterday inaugurated its scholarship and sports committee in the area.
Inaugurating the 26-member committee at the Secretariat, the Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Abdulrahaman Ajiya, said the two committees were long overdue, and urged them to take it as a serious task.
He, however, said his administration was confident that the committees, made up of intellectuals in both education and sports sectors, would not disappoint the Council in its desire to serve the people well.
Ajiya urged the two committees to bear in mind that the process of scholarship and sports were complicated and advised them to be fair in the discharge of their responsibilities.
“Don’t be sentimental; Abaji area council is for all of us, regardless of religion and tribe. Let’s do our best to see that our students out there
are able to feel the impact of this administration,” he said.
Responding, on behalf of other members, Ramatu Aliyu thanked the chairman for finding them worthy for the assignment.
The scholarship committee has Alhaji Adamu Yusuf, as chairman, Hajiya Hadiza A. Umar, secretary, while that of sport has Zakari Isah Zagbe, as chairman and Ismaila Abdullahi, as the secretary.
