The Kano state Magistrate’s Court Number 12 presided over by Chief Magistrate Muhammad Jibril has ordered the Kano state government and Sheikh Abduljabar Muhammad Nasiru Kabara to maintain status quo on the order earlier granted by the court on February 8, pending the hearing and determination of motion on notice.

The court had on February 4 closed Sheikh Abduljabar Mosque and other places of worship located at Filin Mushe pending the outcome of an investigation being carried out by security agencies in the state.

“Sheikh Abduljabar Kabara shall with immediate effect stop all preaching activities and unguarded utterances calculated to cause breach of Public peace in Kano state,” the court had ordered.

During the proceeding Friday, a Kano-based Legal practitioner, Barrister Ma’aruf Muhammad Yakasai, prayed the court to grant him leave to join the list of defendants as an interested party.

The lawyer through his counsel, Barrister Lukman Abdallah said his Client has the legal right to join the party as an indigene of Kano state.
