AbdulRazak to flag off Kwara Cycling race Dec 7

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazak is expected to flag off the first edition of the Kwara Cycling Championship race on December 7th  with about  200 athletes, 72 coaches and 50 Technical officials from 20 states and the Federal Capital Territory participating.

The event according to the Technical Director of CFN, Bashir Mohammed will hold from December 3-8 in Ilorin.

He said the maiden edition of the cycling competition/commissaries course is a strategic programme to complement the effort of the Kwara State government to improve the lives of the people of Kwara State and contribute to the development of sports in general.

Mohammed said that the Kwara state government has declared its readiness to start receiving the delegates from over 20 states and the Federal Capital Territory who have declared interest to participate in both the cycling championship and 3-day Commissionaires Course.

“On our part in the cycling federation, we have concluded plans to organise a hitch-free championship and course for our prospective commissionaires and the state government which is supporting us has declared its readiness to receive the states’ delegation who will start arriving on Tuesday, December 3”, Mohammed said.

Meanwhile, Secretary General of the CFN, Dayo Abulude said that six cyclists, three male and female as well as one participant for the commissionaires course are expected from each of the states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The first to fourth place finishers in the male category will earn N200,000, N150,000, N100,000 and N70,000 respectively while their female counterparts who will ride a shorter distance will take home N150,000, N100,000, N50,000 and N30,000 respectively”.

The Executive Governor will be Special Guest will lead members of his cabinet and top Government officials to ride bicycles (Novelty Bicycle Race) for approximately two (2) Kilometer or thereabout.
