AbdulRazaq, PDP, SDP guber candidates grace fidau for late KWASU  VC  

The Kwara state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) , Alhaji Shuaib Yaman, and  that of Social Democratic Party (SDP),  Alhaji Hakeem Lawal, Wednesday attended fidau (prayer) for the repose of the  soul of the vice chancellor of Kwara State University, Malete, Professor Muhammed Akanbi.

Akanbi died Sunday at a Medical facility in Lagos from where his remains was transported to Ilorin, his ancestral home and buried on Monday.

The fidau prayer which took place at the GRA residence of  the Akanbis was led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin , Alhaji Mohammed  Bashir Soliu. 

Other dignitaries that attended the prayer included the Grand Khadi of Kwara state, Justice Abdulateef Kamalden, Chief Imam, Hilal Crcent Jumaat Mosque, GRA, Ilorin, Professor Badmas Lanre Yusuf.

Others are members of the state executive council, members of the academic community, including  vice chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor  Wahab Egbewole, members of the  Nigerian Bar Association and many Islamic organisations.

The Ahmadu Bello way that led to the Akanbi’s residence was locked down because of the influx of vehicles into the area.

In his brief sermon, Sheik Sulyman Dan Borno, admonished the siblings of the late vice chancellor to hold themselves together as one.

He said the late chairman of the pioneer Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Justice Mustafa Akanbi, bequeathed a worthy legacy to his children and enjoined them not to abuse it.
