The governorship candidate of Labour Party in Abia state, Dr Alex Otti has explained that he left his former party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) to Labour Party because APC was not in the mood to conduct transparent primaries but schemed to favour a particular person.
He added that the party set out to manipulate the electoral process through the zoning of the gubernatorial primaries to favour one person which he said was undemocratic.
The ex-banker turned politician noted that he wrote a petition to this effect against his former party, APC, asking for refund of his money because the mood of the party was not ready to conduct a free, fair and transparent primaries.
Abia governorship candidate of Labour Party for 2023 election stated this in an interactive session with journalists in the state held at his country home of Isiala Ngwa South local government of Abia state.
He, however, decried the level of infrastructural decay, non payment of salaries to workers and pensioners, collapse of educational system including the health sector in the hands of PDP led government in the state noting that the ruling party has performed abysmally low when compared to other states in Nigeria.
He lambasted that the ruling party that from 1999 to date,you can give pass mark to the leadership we have in Abia state, if good people keep off from partisan politics, it means we shall be governed by fools who do not have anything to showcase.
To this end, the LP governorship candidate in the state, however, promised to reverse the ugly trend if voted to power in 2023.
“I have been in the race before now,in 2015 and 2019,we did very well even though the outcome did not reflect the wishes of the masses but in 2023,votes of the people will count as new electoral Act as amended will no longer give room for rigging” Alex Otti said.
Otti noted that the level of under development of Abia is disturbing but noted with optimism that the task ahead is not insurmountable, saying that he had what it takes to deliver the state out of the woods if voted to power in 2023.
