Abia Comets ready for NNL season -Nwakanma

Though the abridged league is going to put a lot of pressure not only on Abia Comets but on all the clubs competing in the league but I can assured you that as a club we are more than ready for the Nigeria National League season,  Victor Nwakanma has declared.

Nwakanma who doubles as the chairman of the club and a top official of the Nigeria Coaches Federation told Blueprint sport in Abuja recently that “Abia Comets is over –ready for the league. We have been in camp since December looking forward to the kick-off of the new season.

“As a club ,our target is to move to the next level. Governor Ikpeazu has given us an enabling environment to succeed. He even promised us that he will never merger us with Enyimba or Abia Warriors, contrary to insinuations in certain quarters that if we get promotion he will likely merger us together.

“ The truth is that Gov.Ikpeazu wants to leave a legacy and in a recent fora with the three clubs he declared that he want a situation where he will leave 3 premier league clubs in the state. My amiable governor is not complaining because of its love for the game.

Nwankanma noted that many things were going to change pertaining to ‘hiring and firing’ of coaches in the country

“It is part of our agenda. We must put an end to it very soon. It’s becoming very embarrassing. We are also looking on how to package a good welfare programme for our coaches especially those who are indisposed. He concluded
