Abia police nab 20 robbery suspects, child traffickers, others

Abia state Police Command has said that it arrested more than 20 armed robbery suspects and others over different criminal offences in the state within one month.

In what he described as “a harvest of criminals,” the state Commissioner of Police, Adamu Ibrahim, said others included one suspect over abduction and obtaining money under false pretence, one over human trafficking/ illegal charity home and one over child trafficking, “while four are on the run.”
Parading the suspects before newsmen, Adamu said they had confessed to the crimes, adding that they would soon appear in court over the crimes.

He said various items were recovered from them, including various sums of money, tricycles, guns, vehicles and other household items, adding that more than 10 pregnant ladies were rescued.
Adamu, who said the feat was possible due to the Command’s “proactive efforts and machinery put in place to checkmate crime and criminality,” called on Abians to partner with the police and security agencies for “a crime-free Easter period” in the state.
“Abia is peaceful and Abians love peace,” he said, urging them to contact the police in case of emergencies.
