Abia state Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has said the Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU) will establish a department of pharmacy in the proposed Aba campus of the university before the year runs out.
Ikpeazu, who added that pharmacy and engineering will form the nucleus of the Aba campus of the university, expected to take off fully by the end of this year.
The governor made this known Friday when he received a delegation of the Anglican Diocese of Aba, led by the Bishop, Rt. Rev Chiodoadighi Christian Ugwuzor at the Governor’s Lodge, Aba.
The governor said approval had been given to the university to fast track the commencement of the Aba campus at Osisioma and assured that serious construction work will commence at the site shortly.
He expressed deep happiness with the management of the university for maintaining consistent high standards over the years which has resulted in the steady upward movement of the university in the ranking among universities in Nigeria.
