Abuja declaration: Group hails Gaidam on 15% budget to health

Yobe state Accountability Mechanism on Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (YoSAMM) has hailed the state governor, Ibrahim Gaidam for earmarking N13, 689,214,000.00, representing 15 per cent of the total 2018 appropriation and finance bill to health sector in compliance with the Abuja declaration.
Representative of YoSAMM, Mohammed Musa, said “Yobe state government is committed to Abuja declaration; it has now allocated 15 per cent of the 2018 total budget to the health sector is a big progress that has become a reality.”
He said, with the governor’s milestone, it further proved to the world that the recent awards conferred on him by the Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics of Nigeria (SOGON) and Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), were not a mere presentation but clear a indication that that he has done excellently well in the health sector.
The mechanism therefore called on the state Assembly for early passage of the bill and timely release of funds as well as tract the budget to ensure efficiency in the management of the resources.
Yobe is one of the states of federation where free health care services are given to accident victims, pregnant women and children below the ages of five.
