Chairman, House Committee on Works, Hon. Abubakar Kabir Abubakar has said that the 220 km Keffi- Akwanga- Makurdi dualization road project has scaled 72% completion.
Abubakar made this known Friday after an evaluation of the four-section road project with contract no FRD/ 83/AKALM/2017.
Speaking with newsmen in Lafia, the Works Committee Chairman said that the 220 Km road connecting three states, Abuja-, Nasarawa, Benue costing over $500m is a very important project, adding that the federal government contributed 15% counterpart funding, while the Chinese government is providing 85% through a concessionary loan agreement
He said, “So far we have inspected the road project and although the project is 72% completed, but there are concerns raised , the contractor handling the project has to make sure the project is not compromised in quality, standard and delivery.”
The project is expected to be handed over in a few weeks, so before we can drop money all concerns regarding it must be addressed by the contractor, he said.
