Abuja natives accuse El-Zakzaky’s supporters of rape, assault; task FG on insecurity

Natives of Abuja have accused supporters of the leader of Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), otherwise known as Shiites, Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky of rape and physical assault on “defenceless women in local communities of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).”

The natives, while addressing a press conference, Monday in Abuja, also called on federal government to address the security challenges local communities are facing before it snowballs into to a full blown war between the natives and the Shiites.

Spokesman of Abuja natives Comrade Yunusa Yusuf, who addressed journalists on behalf of the group, said of recent  Shiites are reported in local communities in the territory unleashing mayhem on “defenceless natives especially women and other residents.”

He alleged that a suspected member of the sect last week chopped off fingers of an Abuja native in Guzape village over a disagreement, adding that the victim is currently receiving treatment in hospital.

Yusuf expressed displeasure over the way the government was treating the terrorist group with kid gloves and warned that the natives would device a means of defending themselves if government fails to take urgent actions to tackle the issue.

According to him, “Supporters of El-Zakzaky are all over our local communities and we are no longer safe in our ancestral land. They use the remote villages as hideout. Unfortunately, their presence in these communities is becoming unbearable as they have started raping our defenceless women and physically assaulting natives and residents of the territory.

“Just last week, a member of the group chopped off fingers of our brother in Guzape village who is currently receiving treatment. These people are terrorists and they keep terrorising our people. What is shocking to us is the way and manner the government is treating these people with kid gloves.”
