Abuja: Residents of Ado appeal to AEDC over power outage

Residents of building materials market and Bakin Kasuwa area of Ado, Karu local government area of Nasarawa state have lamented poor electricity supply in their community due to break down of transformer and absence of meter.

The spokesman of the community Alhaji Sani Musa Mairiga said the challenge had been on since December 2018.
He said while some neighbouring communities enjoy uninterrupted power supply, their area has been in perpetual darkness despite several appeals to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) .
Alhaji Mairiga stated that in spite the problem, the AEDC kept bringing increasing bills to the residents.
According to him, “We wrote a letter to AEDC Office  in Maraba/Karu and they assured us that something would be done about it but up till now, nothing has been done.
“I am pleading with AEDC to rectify the problem and provide us with meters, because we cannot be paying for energy we did not consume.
“I also want to appeal to the federal government to provide us with  more transformers for the community because of the daily influx of people to the community, the  transformer stationed at Karu junction is old and because of the heavy Load  the transformer is carrying hence, the it keeps  breaking down.”
He said poor electricity supply had negative impact on the social and economic activities of the community.
“It is really affecting our business because if there is no light, business cannot move effectively”, he said.
