Accept postings in good faith, minister urges corps members

The Minister of State, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) 0loye 0lajumake Akinjide has urged the National Youth Service Corps Members(NSYC),Batch ‘A’ to accept their postings in good faith and report at their places of primary assignment earliest.
Akinjide stated this yesterday in Abuja at the closing ceremony of 2014 Batch ‘A’ Orientation Course held at the NYSC FCT Permanent Orientation Camp, Kubwa She called on all corps employers to accept corps members posted to their schools, hospitals,agencies as well as organizations and ensure adequate welfare provision for them.

“In terms of security, the Federal Capital Territory ( FCT) is relatively safe with the coordinative activities of the various security agencies to ensure that lives and property are protected. However,they are advised to make use of other security tips availed at the camp as complement, “she stated.
“Report any suspicious person(s)to the nearest security agency for immediate action, as security is a collective responsibility for all of us,” she added.
She advised them to respect the cultures and norms of the people of the Territory, be law abiding, and , ensure that the remain role model for youths in their host communities.

The  Minister of Youth Development, Mr. Boni Haruna who was  represented by the Director of Network and Social Mobilization , Abdulrazak Salau said that there are plans to float an
“interest free loans scheme” which corps members with relevant skills will access to start off their own businesses as an alternative to the grossly dwindling white collar jobs.

Salau said the modalities of the liberal loans scheme are being worked out and it is envisaged that some of interested corps members will take advantage of this Government gesture.
He charged them to adhere to the core values of the scheme, that is team work, patriotism, integrity and efficiency, in the discharge of their duties throughout the period of national service.
“Shun vices that will distract you from achieving the mandate of further accelerating national unity and integration which the National Youth Service Corps stands for. Be of good conduct, as you have been variously rated throughout the service year.”
