Accident claims 11 lives in Osun


The accident that occurred at Gbongan in Ayedaade local government area of Osun state, Friday evening, has claimed 11 lives. 


Another 22 passengers also sustained serious injuries in the road crash. 


The spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mrs Agnes Ogungbemi, who confirmed this to newsmen, Saturday morning, said that 33 passengers were involved in the two vehicle that collided.


According to her, the accident occurred opposite Ayedaade local government secretariat, Gbongan, around 9:05pm on Friday. 


She disclosed that the accident involved two commercial vehicles, Mazda bus with registration number KJA 392 YA and a Toyota Hiace Bus with registration number GWL 427 YM. 


Ogungbemi who stated that the injured victims have been taken to Ariremako hospital in Gbongan, said others were taken to Central hospital, Osogbo.  


According to FRSC, 10 corpses were taken to the morgue at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife, while a Northerner involved was taken by Hausa community in Lagos.
