ACPN makes u-turn, suspends chairman, endorses Atiku

A Faction of executive members of Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) has suspended its national chairman, Abdul Ganiyu Galadima and endorsed the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar.

ACPN’s  ‘integrity Leadership’ while briefing journalists Thursday in Abuja explained that their support for Atiku and PDP was not out of any pecuniary consideration but their belief that he was a detribalised Nigerian, a successful business magnet with capacity to return the country on the path of development.

The Abdul Ganiyu Galadima led faction had sometimes ago endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) after the after the withdrawal of its Presidential Candidate, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili,  just like the Red Card Movement founded by Ezekwesili also endorsed Atiku.

Addressing the Press at the National Headquarters of PDP, National Treasurer of ACPN, Hon. Angus Uzoamaka alongside other party executives asked their members to support the aspirations of Atiku.

He said: “We the undersigned and all members of our party nationwide that have frowned against this ugly trend, hereby reject their declaration in all entirety and wish to announce our declaration and support henceforth for Atiku/Obi cum PDP Presidential bid for a better Nigeria.

“By this declaration, all our members and supporters nationwide, that have consented to this movement are hereby urged to change plans immediately and move into PDP campaign train in their various location”. 
Uzoamaka said they have instructed their teeming supporters to vote for Atiku and ensure he is elected.

Receiving the ACPN group, the National Organising Secretary of PDP, Col. Austin Akobundu, on behalf of the National Chairman of the Party, Prince Uche Secondus welcomed them to the party and assured them that they have taken the right step.

He told them that there were signs that Atiku would win the election and assured them that they would not be left behind when the party regains power.
