ActionAid announces board chair

ActionAid Nigeria yesterday announced its Board Chairperson in person of Dr. Jummai Umar-Ajijola.

Jummai succeeds Prof. Patricia Donli, the outgoing Board Chair who has retired to join the AAN General Assembly after serving for 6 years.

In a press statement issued yesterday in Abuja, Communications Coordinator ActionAid Nigeria, Nihinlola Ayanda, said Jummai until her appointment was a member of the Board.

According to the statement, with over 23 years working experience that spans across the Public and Private Sectors and Multilateral Development Organizations, Jummai holds a PhD in Public Administration & Policy Analysis and is a Fellow of the United Nations University, Maastricht, Netherlands.

“She is a recipient of several awards, including the prestigious Executive Leadership Award for support to the Women and Children of Liberia.

“She is also a recipient of several awards, including the prestigious Executive Leadership Award for support to the Women and Children of Liberia.

“Other Members of the Board Executive elected are the Vice Board Chair, Mr. Mac Imoni Amarere and Board Treasurer, Mr. James Milahan.

“Speaking at the 36th Board Meeting held on the 9th of June 2018 in Abuja, the outgoing Board Chair, Prof. Patricia Donli said, “as the governing authority and highest decision-making organ of ActionAid Nigeria, the General Assembly was constituted in 2009 and it delegates governance powers to the Governance Board.

“Over the years, I have engaged with the General Assembly as the Board Chair, I am elated to have served and I am stepping aside to take on another role that will enable me contribute objectively to anti-poverty fight in Nigeria,” the statement read
