Activist tasks Kogi govt on devt plan @ 28

As Kogi clocks 28 years, Executive Director, Conscience for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution (CHRCR) , Mr Idris Miliki Abdul has called on the state government to put in place machinery for development plan for both short, medium and long terms.

Abdul who made the call in a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Lokoja  Wednesday, lamented that 28 years after the creation of the state, there was no meaningful economic plan and infrastructural development, urging the present administration to look inward in putting the state on a threshold of development.

“We call on the state to organise conferences to look at available resources in the state, both human and material, that would be used for the development of the state which will outlive the present government.

“In 28 years of creation of Kogi state, many laws passed by the state Assembly have not been gazetted and published. Despite the gloomy situation, several opportunities are still available to change the situation,” he noted.

While calling on all government institutions and the three  tiers of government to re-examine its selves in terms of performance, the activist  expressed worries that the Kogi state House of Assembly cannot boast of a functional website, after 20 years of existence.

“This cannot be acceptable in this era of ICT where the world is becoming a global village” he said.
