Adamawa agog for YSFON U-20 inter-ward football tourney




The maiden edition of YSFON U-20 Inter-ward football championship has
been concluded to hold in Hong, Adamawa State from January 8 to 14,
2020.


The  tournament which will be played among teams from the 12 wards in
Hong Local Government Area as part of efforts to develop grassroots
football in the council area is organised by Adamawa State chapter of
Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) and sponsored by the
President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engr. Musa Nimrod.


According to a statement by the organisers, the competition  will be
held at College of Education, and Government Secondary School’s
playgrounds, both at Hong respectively.
The statement further stated that at the end of hostilities,  10 best
selected players will be groomed and introduce to both National League
club sides and the various national teams even as they assured that
all logistics have been put in place  for a successful competition.
“This tournament is part of our efforts to develop football at the
grassroots in Adamawa State and we’re poised to have a successful
competition in order to encourage more sponsors to be part of our
programme.


“You’re aware that towards the end of last year, we organised a three
day  coaching clinic for 36 coaches drawn from the 12 wards in Hong
Local Government Area towards the hosting of this tournament and I can
assure you our readiness for the championship.
“It’s also important we commend the sponsor who also doubles as
President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engr. Musa Nimrod  for
sponsoring both the coaching clinic and the tournament and we appeal
to other Nigerians to emulate him and move our football forward”,
concluded the statement.
