Th ere is palpable tension, uncertainty and fears in Adamawa state as most commissioners and other government offi cials in the administration of Governor Bindow Jibrilla have gone into hiding to evade arrest by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC). Th e situation followed several petition to the EFCC against some government offi cials in the state over multi million naira contract scams undertaken by the administration in the last two years. Last week, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr.Umar Bindir,his offi ce main accountant, principal private secretary to the governor, Abdullahi Bakari and a domestic aide to the governor and one Musa Bororo, were made visitors to the EFCC. Th e aff ected government offi cials were invited last week and interrogated for several hours and were directed to be reporting to the operatives for further questioning.
Sources closed to Government House, disclosed that the operatives moved from their zonal offi ce in Gombe for routine duties into Yola since Wednesday last week. “As you know, there are a lot of issues concerning highly infl ated contracts awarded in a shoddy manner which includes needless billboards of the governor reacted all over the places” “Musa Bororo is probably the closest person to Bindow, he is not educated nor is he known to have been in any business, yet he was awarded big contracts ,which are beyond his capacity”.
