Lectures have continued to hold at the College of Education, (COE), Hong, Adamawa state, despite threat letters allegedly written by members of the Boko Haram sect to the school authorities.
Yesterday, the school Provost, Dr John Pongri, confirmed receipt of letters purportedly written by Boko Haram threatening to attack the school.
The development had forced some students to leave out of fear even as the school authorities had doubted the authenticity of the source of the letters written in English.
The latest of the letters seen yesterday was pasted on the office door of Dean Students Affairs of the College, Dr Joel Wale, asking the students to leave immediately as they (Boko Haram) were on their way coming to the school.
Provost of the college, who spoke to newsmen shortly before the newsmen were taken round the school to see students taking lectures, said his recent confirmation as the provost and the way he embarked on reforming the school did not go down well with some people.
Pongri also cited the management recent increased of students registration fees as another challenge being faced by his new management.
Similarly, President of the Students Union Government (SUG), Mr Jackson Karnaliyus, who spoke to newsmen on the development, said things were already returning to normal with lectures going on.
Karnaliyus said students were not happy with the increase in school fees, but after going round other institutions within the state, the union had seen reason to accept the increase in good faith.
He said the union would mobilise students to reason with the school authorities and work towards a peaceful and conducive learning environment.
In the meantime, a team of soldiers and policemen had been drafted to the school to ensure adequate security alongside local vigilantes recruited by the school authorities.
