Action Democratic Congress has rejected results of Saturday’s local government elections of Edu local government area of Kwara state declared by the State’s Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC).
Addressing journalists in Ilorin yesterday, the party’s candidate in the just concluded election in Edu local government, Ambassador Muhammed Abubakar Muhammed, and Comrade Ajisafe, respectively, alleged “irregularities, non -compliance of electoral laws, ballot stuffing and rigging.”
They further alleged that elections were not held in ward 1 and Ward 2 in Lafiagi in the areas where there were 22 polling units due to the crises that erupted in the areas, but that KWSIEC went ahead to declare APC candidates winner in the areas.
Muhammed also alleged that a member of a political party was engaged to transport election materials from Tsaragi to Lafiagi during which they engaged in ballot stuffing.
“At this point, we want to say we don’t accept result announced by KWSIEC. We are calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to come and rescue us in Kwara state. What we had in Kwara state on Saturday was no election,” Muhammed said.
Corroborating Muhammed’s claim, the party’s chairman said results of elections declared at polling units showed that the ADC candidate won the election.
He said the party would also challenged the election results in court even as he called on electorates to always speak out against such any sharps practices to strengthen democracy.
