‘Ado Bayero was a detribalised Nigerian’

A former chairman of Kano State Primary Education Board (SPEB), Malam Yakubu Adamu, has described the late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, as a “detribalised traditional ruler” who had left an indelible mark on the sands of time.
In a statement in Kano, Adamu expressed shock over the death of the emir, saying that it had come at a time when his wise counsel was most needed.

“People in the whole country not only in the state will continue to remember the emir as a lover of peace, harmony, stability and promoter of the socio-economic development of Kano state in particular and Nigeria as a whole,” he said.
He noted that the late emir contributed tremendously to the development of Islamic and western education, “particularly in building many Islamic, Qur’anic schools and Mosques.”

Commenting on the administration of Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Adamu commended him for his ability to execute numerous development projects, saying that he possessed the qualities to become the next president.
He also hailed him for the emergence of Malam Lamido Sanusi Lamido as the successor to the late Ado Bayero as the emir of Kano, stressing that with the quality and exposure of the new emir, Kano was poised to benefit from his wealth of experience and intellectual pedigree.
