Adokwe donates materials to victims of Benue/Nasarawa killings

Senator representing Nasarawa South at the National Assembly, Sulaiman Adokwe has donated food items worth millions of naira to victims of the recent attacks on Tiv communities in Nasarawa/Benue border by suspected herdsmen.
Adokwe, who is the chairman, Senate Committee on Information and Culture made the donation on yesterday in Awe IDPs camp in Awe local government area of the state.
The senator, represented by Barr James Agbo, described the Nasarawa/Benue attacks on Tiv communities as unfortunate, urging the IDPs to be patient and law abiding and not take the laws into their hands.
“We are here to sympathise and to donate relief materials to the IDPs taking refuge as a result of the recent killing in Nasarawa/Benue border communities as it is an unfortunate situation that the people who have been living, farming together woke up and found themselves in this kind of situation,” Adokwe said.
He added that it was unfortunate that the crisis had affected farmers negatively as most of them have not harvested their crops in their settlements, explaining that only God knows what would happen to their food crops in their farms.
He assured the people of his constituency of a robust and quality representation at the legislative house and solicited for their support to enable him succeed in providing the much needed dividends of democracy.
The senator urged the people to continue to live in peace and tolerate one another, irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliations, for the overall development of the country.
Responding, Mr. Charles Gusa, who spoke on behalf of the IDPs, lauded the humanitarian gesture of Sen. Adokwe and called on other politicians to emulate him.
