The Action Democratic Party (ADP) has demanded that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) take over the conduct of local government elections, alleging “electoral fraud by state governors.”
Also, the party has faulted the Senate President, Bukola Saraku, Governor Abdulfatai Hammed, and Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, among other APC leaders, for their failure to prevail over their supporters to conduct themselves with decorum during election.
The National Chairman of the party, Yabaji Sani, said the ADP actually won one of the local governments conduct in kwara state on Saturday, but was robbed of the victory by the ruling party in the state.
“INEC should take over because it has shown that we have learnt nothing. The change APC promised is nothing and this is a shame that the state governors who are the custodian of the law cannot guarantee peaceful election. So, INEC should take over.
However, he was quick to admit that the party does not have any physical evidence against the likes of Senate President, the governor and the Minister of Information, but noted it has the moral duty to ensure that Kwarians did not experience vote buying and killing seen in Kwara state on Saturday.
“We have come to alert Nigerians that our victory in Edu Local Government of Kwara State has been stolen by the APC government with the blood of three young men on their hands. We want to reclaim our mandate, we want those who killed the young men to be brought to justice and our chairmanship candidate in the election, Muhammad Abubakar Muhammad, be declared the winner.
“We are sad, very sad that the APC, a party that came into being as a result of what it described as ‘decadence and moral deficiency in our polity’, promising a change for the better, has remained champions in corrupt practices of killings and has not only been found wanting in financial integrity at some high quarters.
“But it has also displayed worrisome recklessness in pursuit of political tentacles and ambitions it has also not shown any remorse for its protectionism ideology for their own with soled fingers.”
