ADP tasks FG on strengthening democratic institutions, economic restructuring

The Action Democratic Party (ADP) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari led federal government to develop a policy that would strengthen democratic institutions, economic restructuring, foster unity, peace and security in the country.

The ADP national chairman, Alhaji Yabagi Sani, made the call in a statement he personally signed Sunday in Abuja as part of activities marking the second year of the party’s registration.

According to him, this has become imperative to ensure a vibrant democracy and a stronger country.

“As Nigeria marches into another political dispensation, I call on President Buhari in his second tenure to develop a policy toward strengthening our democratic institutions, economic restructuring, unity, peace and security.”

He said that the ADP, which came as a child of necessity on June 7, 2017, had introduced three fundamental principles for a credible political platform to rescue the nation`s political space from imminent collapse.

He mentioned them as all-inclusiveness, democratic empowerment of women and youths, and party supremacy.

“It is on record that ADP effectively participated in the 2019 general elections and emerged as the third most popular political in the country. The party featured candidates in all the elective positions including the presidency where it produced one member of House of Representatives and one member of the House of Assembly, all in Oyo state.

“I congratulate all the members of our great party ADP and in particular our gallant candidates whose hard work, commitment and resilience were responsible for the historic feat. I enjoin all Nigerians, especially members of our great party, ADP to keep faith and remain committed to the ideals of our party and pray for the peace and unity of our nation.”
