AEPB director bags NYCN transformation award

The Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has conferred on FCT Director of Monitoring and Enforcement of Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB), Dr Hassan Abubakar Maradun with the Icon of Societal Transformation award.

President of the organisation, Barrister Umar Attahiru while conferring him with the award in Abuja recently, emphasised that the various enforcements of the department against drug sale, abuse and peddling informed the award.

He eulogised the AEPD FCT director for the enforcement of the anti-hawking, trading, peddling and dispensing of goods on the street and unauthorised areas by the monitoring and enforcement department led by the recipient.

The group called for increased funding for the entire monitoring and enforcement department of AEPB, going by the sensitive, herculean and difficult mandate of the agency.
In his response, Dr Hassan Abubakar thanked the council for the recognition and dedicated it to the FCT Minister, Muhammed Musa Bello whose trust and support motivated them to achieve their objectives, especially with the role of enthroning the COVID-19 protocols falling on the Abuja Environmental Protection Board after the dissolution of the FCT Ministerial Committee on COVID-19.

Dr Hassan expressed satisfaction with the NYCN on the immortalisation and sustainability of the late Sadauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello,  who left indelible legacy through strides, human capacity development and unification of the North.

Dr Hassan pledged that AEPB will not relent in ensuring that drug abuse, sale, consumption and other illicit street trading are wiped out, in line with the mandate of the department.

He implored the youths to support the FCT minister’s stance against street hawking, trading along restricted areas, drug peddling and desire to wipe out environmental degradation and dirtiness. He charged them on patriotism, selflessness and nation-building.
