AFCON 2021 – Nigeria vs Benin, Lesotho: Rohr in selection problem ahead of qualifiers

Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, has admitted that he is in dilemma on the choice of players he will parade for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and also Lesotho next month.

Our source said that the coach is worried about the return to fitness of some regular players that missed the friendlies against Ukraine in Dinpro and Brazil in Singapore.

Players like Super Eagles Captain Ahmed Musa, Ola Aina, Oghenekaro Etebo and Samuel Kalu missed the 1-1 against Brazil at the Singapore National Stadium in Kallang, due to injuries.

And feelers from the Nigeria Football Federation indicated that the four players will be available for selection against Benin and Lesotho as the Super Eagles aim to kick-start their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on winning notes.

Rohr has now admitted that he is facing selection problem should these trusted player return to full fitness ahead of the AFCON qualifiers.

“If Musa can come back, if Ola Aina can come back and if Etebo too can come back, so we would see what can happen with the top players for these must win games,” Rohr added.

Nigeria will take on the Squirrels of Benin Republic at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City early November before travelling to Maseru days later to face Lesotho.
