AFCON -Nigeria Vs Burundi :CAF rates Ighalo’s goal as best on day 2

Odion Ighalo delightful strike against Burundi in the Matchday 2 of the Cup of Nations in Egypt has been adjudged as the best of all the seven goals scored in  day 2 of the competition by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Ighalo who  plies his trade with the Shanghai Shenhua of China  came in as a substitute for Paul Onuachu in the 73rd minute and netted the decisive strike four minutes later.

The goleador received an exquisite back-heeled pass from Ola Aina and and curled the ball home from inside the box to the chagrin of the stubborn Burundians.

“7 goals to choose from, but only one got our goal of the day accolade – @ighalojude of @NGSuperEagles ,” reads a tweet on CAF’s official website.

Ighalo was top scorer in the AFCON 2019 qualifiers with seven goals, one more than Burundi striker Fiston Abdoul-Razak.

With the goal in his credit, there is every possibility that Super Eagles gaffer, Gernot Rohr  will  give him his first start of the competition when the Super Eagles face the Syli Nationale of Guinea  on Wednesday at the Alexandria Stadium.

A win over Guinea will secured a place in the second round of the competition
