AFCON: S/Eagles camp opens Sunday in Asaba

Ahead of the fast approaching International friendly with Zimbabwe on June 8 and the upcoming AFCON in Egypt ,the camp of the Super Eagles of Nigeria will come alive on Sunday in Asaba when the team resumes preparation for the encounter.

Already, Super Eagles gaffer, Gernot Rohr and his technical crew are already in town putting finishing touches to the arrival of the players.

Rohr had listed returnee John Mikel Obi who last played for the team during the 2018 World cup in Russia and 24 others for the camping exercise.

The  international friendly against Zimbabwe is to officially showcase the team to Nigerians before heading to Egypt where the team will have their final camping exercise ahead of the AFCON.

Other notable names expected in Asaba include Arsenal prodigy, Alex iwobi, Leicester duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Ndidi Wilfred Ndidi; Oghenekaro Etebo (Stoke City, England); John Ogu (Hapoel Be’er Sheva, Israel)

Others  include, forwards such as Ahmed Musa (Al Nassr, Saudi Arabia); Victor Osimhen (Royal Charleroi, Belgium); Moses Simon (Levante, Spain); Henry Onyekuru (Galatasaray SK, Turkey); Odion Ighalo (Shanghai Shenhua, China); Alexander Iwobi (Arsenal, England); Samuel Kalu (Girondins Bordeaux, France); Paul Onuachu (FC Midtjylland, Denmark);); Samuel Chukwueze (Villarreal, Spain)

Blueprint Sport gathered that the Nigeria  Football Federation and the Delta state government are putting everything on ground to ensure that the match is ‘hitch-free’

Nigeria is placed in Group B alongside Burundi, Guinea, and Madagascar for the AFCON kicking off on June 19 in Egypt.
