Afenifere to FG: Stop kid-glove treatment for arrested terrorists, bandits

Pan Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, weekend advised the federal government to change its style on insecurity in the country and confront it headlong.

In a statement in Ibadan Saturday by its national publicity secretary, Comrade Jare Ajayi, the pan Yoruba socio political organisation said in doing this, the federal government should stop the alleged kid glove treatment being given to arrested bandits and terrorists.

Afenifere added that the spate of insecurity in Nigeria is becoming alarming and as such those in authority should realise that providing security and welfare are the primary duties of government.

Lamenting that “unfortunately, government has not lived up to expectations in these and many other respects,” the socio political organisation pointed out that President Muhammadu Buhari “can ameliorate the situation within the few months that his administration still have.

“The government under President Buhari is not doing enough to stop terrorism and kidnapping incidents festering on a daily basis. The situation became so dire that some countries have designated Nigeria as a terrorism-prone area to be kept at an arm’s length,” it said.
