Aftermath of attack in Edo, police refuses to detain Hoodlums

Members of the #EndSARS protest in Edo state were stunned, Tuesday, following the refusal of police operatives to take custody of hoodlums apprehended during the peaceful exercise in Benin City.
The  hoodlums numbering four were reportedly apprehended for robbing unsuspecting members of the public as well breaking into shops at ugbowo area under the guise of partaking in the peaceful protest by #EndSARS members.


Blueprint gathered that the group afterwards took the suspects to Ugbowo police station for proper investigation.
They were said to be shocked at the turn of event after policemen on duty rejected the suspects because they (police) were not permitted to detain suspects after Monday’s violent protest.


A protester who simply identified himself as Omoregie said, “They (police) advised us to take the suspects along with the stolen items recovered to the state police headquarters.:
Police sources however attributed their action to hoodlums attack on some police divisions on Monday during which the facilities were set ablaze.


The source also stated that the hoodlums had earlier stormed the Ugbowo police division and “demanded if any suspect was being detented in the cell and threatened to set the station on fire”.
