Aftermath of collapsed 3-storey building: Plateau govt swings into action, pulls down illegal structures

The Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB) on Thursday morning, commenced demolition of unauthorised and substandard buildings in the capital city of Jos.

The board’s action commenced with the demolition of a three-story building situated at Mango Street, belonging to Alhaji Usman Tetengi.

Their action is coming after Governor Simon Lalong directed that such types of buildings be marked for demolition, following the calamitous collapse of a three-story building that claimed at least 12 lives.

Thursday’s demolition of Tetengi house, followed an earlier partial collapsed of the building, some weeks ago, prior to the collapse at Butcher lane on Monday.
