The Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU), Monday alerted that the federal government is now humiliating and blackmailing its leaders over the union’s demands.
Chairman of the University College Hospital (UCH) branch of the union, Dr Adeolu Ali, raised the alarm in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan
According to JOHESU, the federal government has been using all forms of instruments and faceless organisations adequately financed for effective, efficient and affordable healthcare service delivery system.
The union pointed out that despite that the warning strike embarked upon by the union members has been called off, the federal government through the Federal Ministry of Health has continued to exhibit high level of bias and discrimination by refusing to address the demands of its members as presented by JOHESU within the seven days of the warning strike.
Emphasising that the next line of action by the union would be decided in due course by the expanded National Executive Council of JOHESU, Dr Ali said, “the seven-day warning strike embarked upon by the members of the JOHESU has come to an end midnight of September 20, 2020.
“All health workers under the five unions that makes up JOHESU and Assembly of Healthcare Professional Association (AHPA) shall return to work on Monday 21, September 2020 across all federal health institutions in the country.”
