Again, LASTMA confirms 2 dead, 4 rescued in Lagos auto crash  

Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Tuesday, confirmed the death of two people, while another four victims were rescued in a fatal accident inside mini commercial buses (tricycles) around Ikotun, Alimosho local government area of Lagos.

LASTMA Director of  Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Taofiq Adebayo, who  told journalists in Lagos, said the accident occurred around 12:30 pm Tuesday, and it involved a fully loaded container truck (JJJ 125), and four mini commercial buses (tricycles) with registration Nos. LSD 83 QM; AKD 690 QK; AKL 87 QF.

According to him, the driver of one of the mini commercial buses (tricycle), with one passenger who died instantly while those four rescued victims by LASTMA showed that they were two pregnant women and two children involved.

“They were immediately handed over  to the policemen from Ikotun Police Station, who took them to the General Hospital  in the area for medical attention,” he said. 

According to him, “preliminary investigation revealed that the fully loaded container truck (JJJ 125) had a brake failure and crushed the three tricycles by a valley around Synagogue  Church, when going towards Ikotun area of the state.

“However, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) immediately moved the tanker with those crushed tricycles to Ikotun Police Station, while other emergency responders, including the Nigerian Police men from Ikotun Police Station, were at the scene of the accident.”

The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr Bolaji Oreagba, warned tanker owners and drivers to always  ensure that their trucks are properly checked and in good condition before embarking on any journey.
