Again, Senator Ogba emerges Ebonyi FA chairman

The Senator representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial zone, Senator Obinna Ogba, on Saturday emerged chairman of the Ebonyi state Football Association.

He has held the position for over 10 years now.

Senator Ogba, who is the senate committee Chairman on Sports emerged unopposed in the election, after he was endorsed by all 16 delegates from the 13 local government areas of the state.

The election which held in Abakaliki commenced at about 9:30am with the delegation from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) led by Mazi Amanze Uchendu, a member of Confederation of African Football CAF Appeal committee, Chief Chidi Ofor Okenwa, Chairman Enugu Football Association and Mr. Kenny Isiadinso, member NFF security as monitors.

Senator Ogba in his opening speech said he had sponsored the training and camping of National U17 team in Abakaliki adding that in 2018, he brought five football scouts from Europe in collaboration with some Ex-Nigeria internationals  to Ebonyi state to scout for players.

He also expressed the regret that all the success recorded in football administration in Ebonyi states were swept under the carpet by successive administration after Dr. Sam Egwu.

“In order to ensure that Ebonyi state was not deleted from the football map, I quickly organized a football team called Ebonyi United FC, the team is currently playing at the armature division 2 level. I also followed it up by establishing the first ever football academy in the state, called Macojen Academy”.

“In a bid to take football down to the grassroot, I set up various age group football teams from U13, U15 and U17, the U13 team just came back from Lagos where they participated in the just concluded annual Channels Television football tournament”.

In his remark, President of Nigeria Football Federation, (NFF), Amaju Pinick, who was represented by Mr Chidi Ofor Okenwa commended the football family in Ebonyi state for conducting the election in a peaceful atmosphere.
