Agency tasks communities on protection of projects

General Manager, Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency (KSCSDA), Mallam Momoh Dauda, has charged benefitting communities to provide adequate security for the sustainability of projects.

Mallam Dauda gave the charge Saturday at Okekere in Obehira community, Okene local government area of Kogi state during the commission of Ize skill acquisition centre funded by the agency.

The general manager pointed out that any project approved and funded by the agency was  expected to serve and satisfy the yearning of the people, adding that the only way such projects can be of immense  benefit to the communities was through the provision of adequate security to  protect  and  safeguard the projects against any forms of vandalisation.

“The process of getting the project done is community driven, which means that the communities takes ownership of the project right from the onset.

“Therefore, we expected nothing less from the owners in taking good care of the projects. We have trained the communities and empowered them to ensure the sustainability of the projects,” he said.

Speaking further , Mallam Dauda pointed out that within  2016 to date , the agency through additional financing was able to provide 65 projects in the eastern flank of the state while central senatorial district had 60 projects and 58 projects was also executed in the western district of the state.

While commending the effort of Ize Orphans and Widows Association for their dexterity in ensuring that the agency provided the project in the community, the general manager assured the community that whoever trained in the centre and obtained certificate would be empowered with  starter packs to start the trade.

Earlier, an elder statesman from the area, Sule Aliyu in his remark described the skill acquisition centre as a rare privilege to the community.

While urging women to take the advantage of the centre in acquiring skills to better their lives and that of their families, Aliyu appealed to Governor Bello for more funding to enable the agency provide more projects for the downtown to eliminate restiveness in the society.
