National Chairman and former Presidential candidate of the National Action Council (NAC),Dr Olapade Agoro, yesterday condemned the dumping of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) by the former Vice President Abubakar Atiku.
Agoro told journalists in Ibadan that Atiku “is being driven by unnecessary political ambition prompting him to be moving from one political party to another.”
He described Atiku’s decision to dump the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the “manifestation of former Vice President’s desperation to rule Nigeria,” saying: “Not too long ago, I told the whole world that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is a political chameleon with no skin colour stability, that is only being driven by his ambition to rule Nigeria.”
Agoro stressed that Atiku’s eventual withdrawal from the APC less than four years after telling the whole world that the political party would be his last bus-stop “is an indication that the former vice-president is a fair weather politician only looking around for where the grass is green.”
He lamented that the “problems facing Nigeria will not cease until the rubbish bandwagon effects of politicians jumping the fence from one political party to another to realise their selfish interests is overcome.”
Agoro urged the nation’s politicians to start seeing politics as a call to service, rather than an avenue to acquire wealth and to fulfil selfish ambition.
According to him, Atiku would have done himself and the nation a favour by staying in the APC to ensure that all perceived anomalies are corrected, instead of reneging on his vow not to leave the party.
