Pictures: Aguero boost for Man City ahead Tottenham Champions League clash

Pep Guardiola has been handed a massive fitness boost with Sergio Aguero returning to Manchester City training ahead of the Champions League quarter-final first leg at Tottenham.

City’s quadruple-chasers trained at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the eve of the crunch European clash on Tuesday night.

And City’s star striker took part in full training as the squad adapted to their new surroundings on Monday afternoon.

Aguero has not played since he went off injured during the 2-0 victory against Fulham last month – missing the victories over Cardiff in the Premier League and Brighton in the FA Cup.

Ahead of Tuesday’s encounter in north London, City manager Pep Guardiola said: ‘He feels better, he trained with the team for the first time and feels better.’

The all-England showdown will be only the second match played at Tottenham’s new stadium and the first in the Champions League.

Guardiola added: ‘The stadium is what it is, the supporters support the team more than ever in the Champions League.

‘We know what we are going to face, it’s up to us how we handle it. We have to know to handle the situations, if we don’t that’s because we are not prepared to go through.’

City head into the Champions League contest on the back of their 1-0 victory over Brighton, which saw them progress to the FA Cup final.
