Ahead Edo guber poll: Party LG chairmen ‘disown’ Ize-Iyamu

Local government party chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo state Thursday disowned Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu,  the consensus guber candidate of the party’s faction loyal to Adams Oshiomhole,  the National chairman.

Addressing journalists at the state party secretariat in Benin City,  the chairmen said, “The consensus is totally false and without foundation.”

Benjamin Oghumu, chairman of the forum who spoke on behalf of others said, “Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu is not a member of our party”.
“He (Ize-Iyamu) led his followers out of All Progressives Congress in 2004 and even contested the governorship election on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party in 2016 election which he lost.”

According to Oghumu,  the purported waiver granted to him by the National Working Committee of the party was ultra vires, null and void as article 31 of the party constitution confers that power on NEC of the party.”
Oghumu also said Ize-Iyamu recently joined the Edo Peoples Movement (EPM) which according to him, was a group organised by Oshiomhole to destabilise APC in Edo state.

“The party has a constitution and the constitution make provisions on how things are done including registration of new members,” he stated.
While reiterating its support for governor Obaseki for another term, the LGs chairmen urged president Buhari to call Adams Oshiomhole to order.
