Ahead guber polls: IGP redeploys Edo, Ondo CPs, 9 others

Ahead of the September 19 and November 10 governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states, respectively, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the redeployment of the Commissioners of Police (CPs) in charge of both states as well as that of nine other states.

The Police boss in a press statement by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), DCP Frank Mba, Thursday in Abuja, said CP Johnson Babatunde Kokumo, was to take over the Edo state Police Command while CP Bolaji Amidu Salami has been redeployed to Ondo.

It read in part, “The Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the immediate posting and redeployment of the following Commissioners of Police to commands/formations as follows: CP Undie J. Adie Osun state; CP Johnson Babatunde Kokumo Edo state;                                  and CP Lawal Jimeta Tanko Bauchi state.

“CP Philip Sule Maku deployed to Ebonyi state; CP Ahmed Maikudi Shehu deployed to Gombe state, CP Bolaji Amidu Salami deployed to Ondo state; and CP Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu deployed to Oyo state.

“CP Evelyn T. Peterside deployed to Eastern Port; CP Okon Etim Ene deployed to EOD; CP Bello Maikwashi deployed to Airport Command; and CP Olukolu Tairu Shina deployed to Anti-Fraud Unit (FCID Annex Lagos).”

The spokesperson said the Inspector General of Police has charged the newly posted officers to ensure they consolidate and advance the gains of their predecessors particularly in the implementation of community-policing, crime prevention, public security, public safety and general crime fighting.

“The IGP also enjoins the citizens of the affected states to cooperate with the Commissioners of Police to enable them succeed in their new areas of responsibilities,” Mba furtehr stated.
