Ahmedu reelected FIBA Africa zone 3 President

A board member of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) Colonel Sam Ahmedu rtd, has been re-elected as the President of the Federation of International Basketball Association (FIBA) Africa Zone 3 for a third tenure.

His return as President was ratified unopposed by member countries of the zone at a congress which held on Thursday June 8 in Maputo, Mozambique.

His latest emergence extends his stay at the helms of affairs for another four years (2023-2027).

His position also install him as a member of the FIBA Africa Central Board.

Reacting on Friday, Ahmedu said, “This is another huge task bestowed upon me for another four years. It’s said that to whom much is given, much is equally expected.

“My re-election is a further call to redouble my efforts to make the body excel and attain newer heights.

“I thank all those who have continued to support and show solidarity to me. By the grace of God, I will not disappoint them.”

Also speaking, FIBA executive council member, Mr. Abdellatif Hatim from Morocco who supervised the electoral process, congratulated Ahmedu.

He said Ahmedu’s re-election is as a result of immense hard work and dedication towards the development of the game in the zone.

The FIBA Africa Zone 3 member countries include Nigeria, Ghana, Togo, Burkina-Faso, Ivory Coast, Niger, Liberia and Benin Republic.
