AIB launches mobile app to simplify accident, incident reports

The Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) has launched its mobile app with a view to simplifying reports of accidents and incidents.
The Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the agency, Mr. Akin Olateru, who stated this in Lagos while presenting the final reports on four aircraft accidents that occurred between 2009 and 2015 said the app would take “our agency to the next level on the wings of technology.”
“The whole world is moving in the direction of the future and technology offers the powerful route of getting there timely.
“The development of a mobile application is essential to our processes as it extends our relationship with users by providing better access to news and updates, convenience, live reporting by eye witnesses in the event of accidents or incidents.
“AIB Mobile App as it is called, gives us a new and more convenient way to receive aircraft accident report in real time, thus increasing promotional opportunities with push notifications and more which depicts its core objectives of accident and incidence investigation reports.
“This app would improve engagement with Nigerians by providing easy and open access to the Bureau and its activities.
“The application is now available for free download on the apple, android and Google play stores,” he said.
The commissioner stated that since he became the commissioner early in the year “we have been deploying various strategies to re-position the agency and assure its relevance in the global aviation industry.”
“Tapping into this, the development of a mobile application is essential to our processes as it extends our relationship with users by providing better access to news and updates, convenience, live reporting by eye witnesses in the event of accidents or incidents.
He added that pictures could be uploaded on the app saying “this can assist greatly in investigations.”

“Since the advent of the current management in AIB early this year, we have been deploying various strategies to re-position the agency and assure its relevance in the global aviation industry.
“Today one of the results of the simplification is…the AIB Mobile Application. In the information age we find ourselves, having a smart phone is no longer luxury but essential.
“This app would improve engagement with Nigerians by providing easy and open access to the Bureau and its activities. The application is now available for free download on the apple, android and Google play stores,” he added.
