A’Ibom 2019 guber: Federal ‘might’ lost to ‘Peoples might’ – PDP elders

The Elders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Akwa Ibom state have described the victory of the party’s governorship candidate Mr Udom Emmanuel in the just concluded governorship election in the state as victory of the masses over federal might.

Addressing a press conference on behalf of the party leaders, Tuesday at the Divine Mandate Campaign Organisation in Uyo, the Director General of the group, Air Commodore (Rtd.) Idongesit Nkanga said APC did not solicit for votes from the electorate but relied on the power from the presidency to play a vital role in the election which eventually failed them.

According to Nkanga, “You are all living witnesses to the tension and palpable fear that had filled our otherwise peaceful and serene state; the promise of Armageddon; of Warsaw  war, the importation of thugs from Benin , Edo state to inflict violence on our people and cause the election to be cancelled or rendered inconclusive did not work.

“But you, our dear people refused to be cowed or intimated by their evil and devious machinations and plots; you refused to give in to intimidations; you refused to compromise on the future of our state, our common patrimony.

“You rose like meteors and voted for peace, security, good governance, the future of your children, the continuous development of our state; for In the end, the much touted federal might wilted and buckled under the People’s Might, God showed up and proved that only he alone determines who gets power and who doesn’t.”
