The outgoing Adamawa state Commissioner of Police, who was recently promoted to the rank of AIG, John Abakasanga, has cried out to the Adamawa acting Governor, Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, to, as a matter of urgency, assist the state police command with armoured personnel carrier to enable them fight Boko Haram in the state.
Abakasanga, who represent the inspector general of police, made the appealed yesterday in Yola while receiving patrol vehicles donated to the state police command by the state government.
He further explained that this appeal had become necessary in view of sophisticated weapons being used by the Boko Haram insurgents who continued to claim innocents’ lives, especially in border communities of the state, noting that the APC will be stationed at the gate of government house, airport and other strategic locations in the state.
Earlier, in his speech, the acting governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Liman Tukur, reiterated the commitment of the present administration to protect lives and properties, adding that the decision to assist the police and other security agencies was to enable them perform their duties effectively.
