Air force jets, gunships strike terrorists in 3 Borno villages

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets and helicopter gunships killed several terrorists and destroyed their hideouts and logistic structure during air interdiction at Arina Woje, Warshale and Valangide villages of Borno state.

The air strike were executed on 26 September 2020, under a subsidiary operation code named HAIL STORM 2, according to Coordinator Defence Media  Operations,  Maj.  Gen.  John Enenche who disclosed this in a statement.

Enenche said the air strikes were executed after credible Human Intelligence reports as well as confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions had indicated a resurgence of terrorists’ activities at the three locations.

“At Arina Woje in Marte Local Government Area where Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) elements were confirmed to be hibernating, the identified targets were attacked by Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets and helicopter gunships, resulting in the destruction of some structures and the neutralisation of several terrorists, ” Enenche said.

He said the terrorist believed to be responsible for recent attacks in the Dikwa general area were tracked to Warshale and taken out,  “as the NAF attack aircraft took turns in engaging the settlement.”

“The air strike on Valangide in the Sambisa Forest area on the other hand was undertaken at night by helicopter gunships, which mopped-up the terrorists as they strafed the location, ” Enenche added.
