Airtel 4G’ll drive FCT economy – Shittu

Minister of Communications, Mr. Adebayo Shittu, has said that the Airtel 4G will improve productivity and help drive economic opportunities across the Federal Capital territory (FCT).

He said this at the launch of the Airtel 4G in Abuja, adding that 4G will provide a lot of opportunities as it would allow for improved browsing and online experience, better performance of multimedia apps, enhanced voice and HD video calls and compatible with existing telecoms infrastructure.

The Abuja launch by the Mobile network is coming after a similar experience in Ibadan, Oyo state.

According to Shittu, “a 4G network will drive growth, spread prosperity and empower the highly enterprising people in Abuja so that they would be able to fulfil their potentials and eventually realize their dreams.
“Today’s launch is indeed a major milestone for Abuja. I am delighted that Airtel is providing leadership in setting the technology standard for 4G services by rolling out this cutting edge network in line with their corporate vision of becoming the first in class mobile internet service provider in Nigeria,” he added.

Shittu charged Airtel Nigeria to simplify the process of connecting to Nigerians to the 4G network regardless of their income level and social status.

He further said: “I also charge Airtel Nigeria to go the extra-mile to ensure that your company delivers 4G experiences to every door step in Abuja in particular and Nigeria as a whole in a broader spectrum. I urge you to sustain these giant strides.”

Earlier in his opening remarks, the Chief Executive Officer, Airtel Nigeria, Mr. Olusegun Ogunsanya, said the organisation was delighted to roll out the 4G in Abuja, adding that before “the end of the year. we are going to roll out 4G across the country.”
