Aisha Buhari welcomes 2020 first baby


First Lady Aisha Muhammadu Buhari in the early hours of Wednesday received the first baby of year 2020 at the Gwagwa Primary Healthcare Centre in Abuja.
The baby, Master Muhammad Sani arrived at exactly 12.00 am on the January 1, 2020 to the family of Malam Sani Ardo and Mrs Hauwa.


The First Lady, who was represented by the wife of the Speaker of House of Representatives, Mrs Salamatu Gbajabiamila, welcomed Muhammad and all the other children born on the new year day in Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with gifts including post-natal care products, nutritional supplies and cash presents.
She urged mothers to ensure proper care for their babies in terms of exclusive breast-feeding, immunization and timely post-natal care.


The Chief Host of the event and chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Mr Adamu Abdullahi Candido, thanked the First Lady for her kind gesture.
He said AMAC would take care of the post-natal care of the child.
The event was organised by the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Ifeoma Anagbogu.


The event was also attended by traditional leaders of Gwagwa community and aides of the First Lady.
The First Lady also hosted a new year party for children at the banquet hall of the Presidential Villa.
