Students of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria under the aegis of Students’ Representative Council are to honour Hajiya Aisha Buhari and chairman, Zaria local government area of Kaduna state, Engr Aliyu Idris Ibrahim in November this year.
President of the Council, Comrade Usman Waziri, announced this when he led officials of the students’ body to honour Zaria LG boss with an award of excellence at Madakin Zazzau, Aliyu Shehu Idris secretariat in Zaria city, Thursday.
“We the executives of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria Students’ Representative Council, represent 78, 000 students of the university. Mr chairman, consider it that the entire students are here to honour you with this award of excellence in recognition of your service delivery and in putting smiles on faces of people of Zaria local government area thereby fulfilling your electioneering campaign,” Waziri
He pointed out that as students they were witnessed and could attest that the Chairman was man of the people because he redeemed his promise to them by supporting many students of the university, adding: “It is our belief that history of ABU history now can’t be completed without Zaria local government.
“Any time we put our request to you, you assist to the best of your ability before you even became chairman.
“We have dinner and award night slated for next month during which the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari will be honoured and when we will award you again as the best chairman of the year,” he said.
In his acceptance speech, Engr Aliyu Ibrahim Idris, represented by the secretary to the local government, Dr Aminu Kwasau, thanked the students for recognising the chairman.
