Aisha canvasses one-stop shop for NYSC SAED products

Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, has called for the creation of a one-stop shop that would allow government agencies and Nigerians to patronise products of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members from the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme (SAED)

She made the call yesterday while declaring the maiden edition of the NYSC Entrepreneurship festival close in Abuja

Aisha, who was represented by a former deputy governor of Plateau state, Mrs Pauline Tallen, pledged her support for the programme, saying the rate at which the scheme was empowering corps members with skills, the rate of “unemployment will be reduced soon

” She said: “I am highly impressed with what I am seeing today and that is to show that there is hope for Nigeria, particularly as it concerns our youths, and the huge army of unemployed graduates

“What the NYSC is doing is highly impressive, and I can tell that this programme will reduce the level of unemployed youths in the labour market

” Th e Director-General, BrigadierGeneral Suleiman Kazaure, said as at the end of the 2017 Batch ‘A’ orientation course, over 900, 000 corps members had been sensitised under the programme, while over 7, 000 had established their preferred businesses and were doing “very well

” “We are also currently making eff orts to advance the gains of the SAED programme through the establishment of mega skill centers across the six geopolitical zones,” he said
